How to store Avocado

Store in your fruit bowl. If unripe, stick them in the fruit bowl snuggled next to a banana (they release ethylene, which speeds up ripening). To prepare, cut in half, remove the stone, then scoop out the flesh.

Prep & Cooking tips

Halve the avocado, scoop out the stone, and peel away the skin or scoop out the flesh with a spoon.

When cut, the flesh will start to brown; a rub of lemon juice will slow the process, allowing you to keep half for another day.

Easy ideas

1. A quick dip

Chop or mash it with chilli, lime and coriander for a quick guacamole, slice onto hot toast with some sea salt and a squeeze of lemon as a snack, or go classic with a blob of Marie Rose prawns.

2. Smoothie healthkick

They are increasingly popular in milkshakes, smoothies and blends as they add a creamy texture without an overpowering taste.
