BBQ grilled asparagus
The BBQ is a perfect tool to grill your asparagus. If any asparagus spears are particularly fat you can split them in half lengthways to speed up the cooking. Timings will depend on the heat of your BBQ but they'll become noticeably suppler when cooked. Just take care not to lose them between the griddle bars.
Ingredients
- asparagus spears, 250g
- olive oil
- salt and pepper
- squeeze of lemon juice
Method

Step 1
Trim or snap away any tough, woody ends.

Rub the asparagus spears with a little olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.

When your BBQ has settled to hot glowing embers, place the spears on the griddle bars in a regimented row.

Cook for 4-6 mins, rolling occasionally for an even cook, until nicely marked and cooked through.

Finish with a small squeeze of lemon juice and serve immediately.
