Clementine Manhattan
This festive cocktail by Riverford Field Kitchen’s mixologist Gem is fresh and zesty. You’ll need Clementine Whiskey, it needs a couple of weeks to sit and infuse, so make that first. We’ve also provided a recipe for orange bitters, if you fancy making your own; alternatively, you can use shop bought. If you make your own, make it at the same time as the whiskey.
Cook's notes
We have given two options in the method: one to make a glass, and another to make a bottle if you’re hosting a party or want to match up a batch.
Ingredients
- Homemade clementine whiskey, see our recipe
- Red vermouth
- Homemade or shop bought orange bitters
Method
To make an individual glass
-
Step 1
Fill a glass with ice and add 50ml clementine whiskey and 25ml red vermouth. Stir vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass to remove the ice. Finish with a few drops of orange bitters and either a maraschino cherry or a twist of orange peel.
To make a bottle
-
Step 1
In a large jug add 600ml of clementine whiskey, 300ml of red vermouth, 100ml water and ½ shot (around 15ml) of orange bitters. Stir and taste, add more bitters if needed. Bottle and store in the fridge where it should last for a month. When ready to serve, pour 50ml into a chilled martini glass and finish with either a maraschino cherry or a twist of orange peel.
