Being part of Riverford is about much more than flavoursome organic food. We try to build long-lasting relationships with our customers and welcome them into a community of like-minded cooks. This begins at the very start of their journey with us - which is why we employ our own friendly and knowledgable sales teams.
FAQs
What is the purpose of Riverford’s face to face sales roles?
Essentially, the role is to positively entice new customers to join Riverford’s ethically driven, award winning veg box service: www.riverford.co.uk/shop
0% discount…Riverford don’t offer discounts, stopped paying dubious companies to knock on doors and stopped using voucher sites. Instead, we concentrate on growing good veg, looking after our existing customers, and it’s the reason we pride ourselves on having our own in-house F2F sales teams who know our veg and our values.
The farm comes with us wherever we go from highstreets, shopping centres, foodie fair and festivals. It isn’t a hard sell, it’s about offering a great face to face customer experience, people genuinely love talking to us about our wonderfully tasty 100% organic produce.
We’re passionate brand ambassadors, we sell something we believe in and echo Riverford’s values as co-owners: We are stronger together, we do things well, we have independence & we do it our way.
What are the day to day benefits of being a F2F Sales rep?
Alongside Riverford’s growing selection of co-owner benefits which includes a matched contributory pension, 33 days holiday, two amazing parties each year, 25% staff discount plus, wee offer a percentage of our gross yearly profits to be shared between our co-owners.
Our F2F sales teams have their own work perks…
For the love of the outdoors, whether it’s a sunny foodie festival in shorts or a winters high street with a woolly hat on. One day is never truly the same as another…We’re not confined to suited & booted showroom, we’re proactive, out & about meeting new people to sell something we truly believe in.
Working away from our principle farm in the F2F field, our camaraderie keeps us stronger together as we help one another to be the best possible versions of ourselves from experiences and successes across 121’s, group chats, co-owner feedback, motivational team incentives, social calendars and much coveted awards.
As we pay a fair price to our farmers, we consequently pay a fair price to our sales team by awarding an achievable target-based commission. The hours are longer than other roles in Riverford but, the rewards are significantly greater. With sales reps in their first year realistically taking home around £35,000 per annum to over achievers that take-home northwards of £40,000 per annum.
Not to mention, the free fruit & veg!
Will I have achievable targets to hit?
Yes, we do. We pride ourselves on good food, good farming & good business, this is a dedicated sales role that requires a level of personal investment, for each day brings new opportunity to bring on board new customers & to increase your own financial potential.
What training & support is offered?
When you join Riverford as a F2F Sales rep you’ll be invited & welcomed to our beautiful farm Devon where for your first few days you’ll get a unique opportunity of where we grow, pick and pack our delicious veg.
We’ll support you with an array of product knowledge and introduction to our way of selling. Once out & about with your team, they’ll be keen to share their skills & experience together with ongoing support from our dedicated management team.
Furthermore, Riverford’s People Development team proudly offer a fantastic suite of courses that build core skills, supporting you to achieve your full potential as part of a personal and professional journey with Riverford.
What are the working hours?
We know that honesty is the best policy and will openly advertise that our F2F sales roles require a minimum of 40 hours a week. You’ll need to factor in that there will frequent travel which will result in longer days & occasional stays with your team.
To tell you more, the Spring, Summer and early Autumn seasons are jam packed with vibrant foodie events and inevitably during this time, you can expect your hours to dramatically increase. However, our Sales Reps are so successful because they have a great work ethic and attitude, which delivers superb results for Riverford and fantastic financial rewards for our reps.
Do I have to have a driving licence and access to a car?
A UK driving licence is essential for this role as well as being a confident driver as we spend a good deal of time on the road in our ‘Live Life on the Veg’ vans.
Ideally, you’ll have access to a car as many of our team locations are either situated at one of our farms or distribution hubs ‘off the beaten track’. We do have reps who regularly cycle to the farm weather permitting and we offer a Cycle Scheme Policy through the Governments Green Transport plan.
However, if you live in London, have a driving licence but, don’t have access to a car, that’s not a problem due to the great transport links.
How many people will be in my team?
Our face to face sales are group into teams of 3 to 6, most of the activity being based around 2 to 3 sales reps at time. It’s so important that each rep embraces the team fit, we’re essentially friendly, enthusiastic and motivated individuals who pull together to great results.
Do Riverford have a uniform?
This is an all-weather, outdoorsy role so, come rain or shine we know it’s important to have appropriate clothing. We also want our future customers to know who we are, so we’ll kit you out wonderfully vibrant & comfy range Riverford branded clothing.
Is there a minimum age?
You must be 18 or over at the start of your employment. This is due to safeguarding legislation. We are committed to protecting employees and volunteers and Riverford has a legal and moral duty to ensure that we safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young adults involved with Riverford activity. The UK's Children Act (1989) defines a child as a person under the age of 18.
Due to the nature of face-to-face sales team roles, shared accommodation is often offered. As we are not able to provide wardens on their travels to ensure the welfare and safety of under-18s, we cannot guarantee a safe environment for children, as defined by the Children’s Act.
